F1: Rosberg goes fastest qualifying at Hockenheim

The goal is clear: Nico Rosberg wants to get back with a victory in home race overall lead from Lewis Hamilton. In free practice the German dominated already.

Nico Rosberg has indicated in the first two training sessions for the Grand Prix of Germany set the tone. At his home race at the Hockenheimring he went in 1: 15.517 minutes, the fastest time ahead of his Mercedes and WM-rival Lewis Hamilton (1: 15.843).

Between Silver Arrow pilots a close battle for victory in the race on Sunday (14 pm) and the championship lead ahead of the four-week summer break in the offing. After five wins from the last six races Hamilton climbed in the previous week by his success in Hungary for the first time this season at the top of the ranking. His pads on Rosberg is six points ahead of the twelfth of 21 World Championship races. With a victory Rosberg would pass again.

Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel was third as training in 1: 16.208 minutes already back nearly seven tenths behind Rosberg. The four-time world champion Vettel led a tight chasing pack, where again looming a duel between Ferrari and Red Bull for the places behind the clearly superior Mercedes. Right behind it reached Force India driver Nico Hulkenberg (1: 16.781) a good seventh place.

Last year, the Grand Prix of Germany has been canceled because the track operators financially not match came at the Nürburgring with the Formula 1 management. Due to economic factors, the two traditional circuits in Germany had alternated with the alignment since of 2007.

The future of Formula 1 at the Hockenheimring is uncertain. The operators are dependent on many viewers, to secure the race on the contract end of 2018 also. With about 54,000 so far sold tickets for the race Sunday the disappointing value of 2014 only about 47,000 tickets sold already surpassed the mark of 60,000 is sought.
